Angler Fish

In my final year I made another short film independently. One of the puppets I needed to make for this was an angler fish that would be animatable and that would have a working light feature. This was a really fun challenge as It was different to a lot of things I had done previously. To make this I made a wire base skeleton and built it up with tin foil before covering this in a diy mouldable silicone. The silicone worked really well to give a fish like texture and also to  maintain some flexibility for animation. It took a few trials to figure out the best recipe for the putty but I was really happy with my final result. I decorated the angler fish with embroidery thread, eyes and fangs made from cut up erasers. For the wiring light feature I bought mini leds that could be secured into place with clay.
